Off-body carry only works when nothing about the bag gives it away. The Drift is built to look like the daypack on every commuter's back — clean lines, no exterior webbing, no "tactical" tells — while it hides a full-height concealed carry compartment against your spine.

Over one shoulder or riding on your back, it reads as an everyday pack. Behind that is a dedicated, loop-lined compartment you can reach from either side, so your firearm stays covered until the moment you need it.

It's the pack for the person who carries every day, drives long distances, or travels light — and would rather blend in than stand out.

Ambidextrous Rapid Access

The Drift's concealment compartment runs the full height of the pack and opens from both sides. Two low-profile IDEAL zippers sit along the back-left and back-right edges, so you can reach in with either hand — strong side, support side, seated in a vehicle, or with the bag swung around to your front.

There's no single "correct" side and no fumbling for one pull tab. Whichever hand is free, that's the hand you draw with.

Off-body carry is a trade-off: you gain concealment and capacity, and you give up some of the speed of a belt holster. We're straight about that. Ambidextrous Rapid Access is designed to shorten that gap — but it only pays off if you train the draw. Practice it, dry and deliberate, until it's boring.

A Pack That Doesn't Read as Tactical

Gray-man carry is about not being memorable. The Drift skips the exterior MOLLE, loud branding, and military silhouette that announce to everyone in the coffee shop exactly what kind of bag you're wearing.

What's left is a clean, modern daypack in four muted colors — Black, Ranger Green, Coyote, and Wolf Gray — that looks at home on a campus, a job site, or a hotel lobby.

Loop-Lined CCW Compartment — Your Holster, Your Setup

The rear compartment is lined edge to edge with hook-and-loop, so you build the setup around your gun instead of ours. Place a holster where your draw wants it, add a mag pouch or a medical pouch, and move any of it whenever your carry changes.

Because the concealment compartment spans the full height of the pack — 18.5" × 11" inside — it takes full-size handguns, including models running a weapon light, with room left for some PDWs.

The Drift is holster-ready, not holster-included: bring the loop-backed holster you already trust, and the panel does the rest.

Everyday and Travel Carry

The main compartment is left deliberately open so you can actually pack it — a laptop and charger, a change of clothes for an overnight, range gear, or a full EDC loadout. Interior laptop sleeves — sized for up to a 13-inch laptop — keep your computer and tablet separated and flat against the back panel.

A side pocket keeps a water bottle within reach, padded shoulder straps and a sternum strap keep the load stable on long days, and the water-resistant 1000D Cordura shrugs off a parking-lot downpour.

It's as at home on a road trip — where off-body carry in the vehicle just makes sense — as it is on the daily commute.

Built in Selma, North Carolina

Every Drift is cut and sewn in our Selma, North Carolina shop from 1000D Cordura — the same abrasion- and water-resistant fabric that holds up in the field for years. Every zipper is an IDEAL zipper. Every seam is one we'll stand behind.

That's why the Drift carries a lifetime warranty. If it fails because of a defect in materials or workmanship, we make it right.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a gun in a backpack considered concealed carry?
In most states, yes. A firearm carried in a bag where it isn't visible to the people around you is generally treated as concealed carry, so the same permit rules that apply to carrying on your body usually apply to carrying in a pack. Laws vary by state and change often — confirm how your state defines concealed and off-body carry before you carry this way.
Is it legal to carry a gun in a backpack? Do I need a permit?
It depends on your state and sometimes your city. Many states require the same concealed carry permit for off-body carry in a bag that they require for on-body carry, and a few restrict off-body carry further. Check your state's current statutes — or ask a local firearms attorney — and never carry across state lines without confirming reciprocity first.
How do you draw from the Drift?
Both back-corner zippers open the same full-height compartment, so you can reach in with whichever hand is free — including while seated in a vehicle or with the bag swung to your front. Set your holster on the loop panel at the angle your hand naturally travels, then rehearse the draw slowly and repeatedly. Off-body draws are slower than a belt holster, so the reps are what make it work.
Will a full-size pistol fit? Can a PDW fit?
Yes. The concealment compartment measures 18.5" × 11" and runs the full height of the pack, so full-size handguns — including models with a weapon light — fit comfortably, and there's room for some PDWs. Measure your own setup against those dimensions to confirm fit.
Does the Drift come with a holster?
No, and that's intentional. The compartment is lined with hook-and-loop so you can run the loop-backed holster you already trust, positioned exactly where you want it, instead of being locked into one fixed pocket. You can add mag or medical pouches to the same panel as your carry changes.
Is off-body carry safe?
Off-body carry is safe when you treat the bag like a holstered firearm: keep positive control of it at all times, never set it down where someone else could reach it, and keep the gun holstered so the trigger stays covered inside the compartment. The trade-off for concealment and capacity is that the bag can never leave your control.
Can I fly with the Drift?
Not with a firearm in the cabin. TSA rules require firearms to be unloaded, locked in a hard-sided case, and declared in checked baggage — a soft backpack compartment doesn't qualify for carry-on. The Drift itself is fine as a carry-on when it isn't carrying a firearm; just follow TSA and airline rules for the gun and ammunition separately.
What is "printing," and does a backpack help?
Printing is when the outline of a concealed firearm shows through your clothing. Carrying in a backpack removes that problem almost entirely, because the gun rides in the pack instead of against your waistband — there's no bulge at your belt line to give it away. The Drift's clean, non-tactical exterior further keeps attention off the bag itself.
Is the Drift water-resistant? What's it made of?
The exterior is 1000D Cordura, a heavy-duty nylon that's both abrasion- and water-resistant, so light rain and everyday spills wipe right off. It isn't a submersible dry bag, but it's built to protect your gear through normal weather and years of daily use.
Is the Drift made in the USA, and what's the warranty?
Yes — every Drift is cut and sewn in our shop in Selma, North Carolina. It's backed by a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, so if a seam or zipper fails on a properly used pack, we repair or replace it.
