Glock is the most popular handgun platform in America, and for good reason. Whether you picked up a G17 for the range, a G19 for concealed carry, or a G43X for everyday carry, you need a range bag built to protect it. The wrong bag means a pistol sliding around loose, magazines scattered at the bottom, and accessories you can never find when you need them.
We build every Lynx Defense bag by hand in Selma, North Carolina from 1000D Cordura nylon. We have tested fitment with every major Glock model — with and without optics, weapon lights, and extended magazines. This guide covers what to look for in a range bag, which bags fit your specific Glock, and what to pack for range day.
What to Look for in a Glock Range Bag
Not all range bags are created equal. Before you grab the cheapest option on Amazon, here is what actually matters for protecting a $500+ handgun.
Material and Durability
The fabric is the single biggest factor in how long your bag lasts. Budget bags use 600D polyester that frays at stress points within months. The standard for serious range bags is 1000D Cordura nylon — the same material used in military gear. It resists abrasion, tearing, and water penetration far better than polyester alternatives. If you want to understand the actual difference, we broke it down in our 500D vs 1000D Cordura comparison.
Zipper Quality
Cheap zippers are the number one failure point on range bags. A bag full of loaded magazines and a pistol puts real strain on every closure. Lynx Defense bags use IDEAL brand zippers rated for heavy-duty use. If the bag you are considering does not name the zipper brand, that is usually a red flag.
Interior Organization
A range bag without organization is just an expensive box. Look for modular inserts rather than fixed dividers — they let you configure the interior around your specific loadout. Dedicated magazine holders, loop wall panels for attaching accessories, and a hard bottom that keeps the bag upright when you set it down at your lane are all features that separate a purpose-built range bag from a repurposed gym duffel.
Optics and Weapon Light Clearance
This is where a lot of "pistol bags" fall short. If you run a Gen 5 MOS Glock with a red dot sight or a weapon-mounted light, your pistol is significantly taller and longer than the stock configuration. A Glock 19 with a Holosun 507C and Streamlight TLR-7A adds roughly an inch of height and half an inch of length. Your bag's inserts need to accommodate that without crushing the optic. We test every fitment configuration with optics and lights installed so you know before you buy.
Size vs. Portability
Bigger is not always better. If you bring one pistol and a few magazines to the range, a compact bag keeps things organized without wasted space. If you shoot multiple Glocks, take a training class, or compete, you need a bag that holds 2-4 pistols, a dozen magazines, and all your support gear. Match the bag to how you actually shoot, not how you think you might shoot someday.
Best Range Bags for Glock Pistols

Lynx Defense Pistol Bag — Best for 1-2 Glocks
The Pistol Bag is our most popular range bag and the right choice for most Glock owners. It comes with two removable pistol-and-magazine inserts, a built-in detachable range mat, and a 360-degree loop wall interior for attaching accessories wherever you want them. The reinforced hard bottom means it stands upright on the bench instead of flopping over.
Interior dimensions of 13.5" x 8.5" x 8" comfortably fit every Glock from the subcompact G26 to the full-size G17. The G21 in .45 ACP and the long-slide G34 fit but are snug in the standard inserts — if those are your primary pistols, consider stepping up to the Concord. Every compact and slimline Glock (G19, G43X, G48, G44, G45) fits with room to spare, including with optics and compact weapon lights.
Lynx Defense Concord — Best for Multiple Glocks
The Concord is built for shooters who bring more than one pistol to the range or take training classes where you need backup magazines, cleaning gear, and room for course materials. At 17" x 9.5" x 9.5" interior, it handles every Glock model — including the G21 and G34 — with full optics and lights, no compromises.
Two removable gun-and-magazine inserts come standard and hold 12+ magazines. Four exterior pockets, two end pockets, and a full-length zippered side pocket provide dedicated storage for everything from eye and ear protection to your phone, keys, and wallet. If you own multiple Glocks or regularly shoot with a partner, this is the bag.
Lynx Defense Valkyrie — Best for Competition and Instructors
The Valkyrie opens from the top like a toolbox, giving you full visibility into the entire bag at once. At 17" x 11" x 9" interior with six exterior pockets, it is our largest pistol bag and the one we built specifically for competition shooters and firearms instructors who need to carry 3-4 pistols with 20+ magazines.
It ships with two regular dividers, each pre-installed with a handgun holder and magazine attachment. The 360-degree loop wall interior means you can add more dividers, holders, and attachments to configure it exactly how you need it. If you shoot USPSA, IDPA, or GSSF matches with your Glock, the Valkyrie keeps every pistol, magazine, and piece of support gear organized and instantly accessible.
Lynx Defense Prime — Best Lightweight Option
Not everyone needs a full range bag. The Prime is a soft pistol case designed for shooters who travel light — one or two pistols, a couple of magazines, and not much else. At 1.75 lbs, it is easy to grab and go. It works well as a secondary case inside a larger bag or as your primary transport if you keep your range gear in a separate container. Every Glock model fits comfortably.

Full-Size Glocks (G17, G34, G20, G21)
Full-size Glocks share a 5.47" grip height and are the longest models in the lineup. The Glock 17 at 7.95" overall length fits comfortably in all three bags. The G34 competition model at 8.74" and the G20 in 10mm and G21 in .45 ACP are the largest Glocks made — they fit in the Pistol Bag but the standard inserts are snug, especially with a weapon light. If a full-size Glock is your primary range gun, the Concord or Valkyrie gives you room to add accessories without fighting the insert.
Compact and Crossover Glocks (G19, G45, G19X, G44)
This is the sweet spot for the Pistol Bag. The Glock 19 at 7.36" overall length is the most popular pistol in America, and it fits perfectly in every Lynx Defense bag with or without a red dot and compact weapon light. We have tested the G19 Gen 5 MOS with a Trijicon RMR, Holosun 507C, TLR-7A, TLR-1 HL, X300U, and Aimpoint ACRO — all fit.
The Glock 45 and G19X share the G19's compact slide with the G17's full-size grip, making them slightly taller at 5.47". Both fit all bags without issue. The Glock 44 in .22 LR shares the G19's exact dimensions and is a perfect fit — it is also a great way to train cheaply with the same manual of arms as your carry gun.
Subcompact Glocks (G26, G27, G29, G30)
Every subcompact Glock fits comfortably in every Lynx Defense bag with room to spare. The G26 at just 6.42" overall length sits centered in the standard insert. These smaller models actually benefit from the Pistol Bag's modular inserts because you can adjust the positioning so the pistol does not shift around in a larger compartment.
Slimline Glocks (G43, G43X, G48, G42)
The Slimline series is Glock's thinnest at just 1.06-1.10" wide. The Glock 43X and G43 are among the most popular concealed carry guns sold today. All Slimline models fit every Lynx Defense bag with plenty of clearance. Their narrower profile also means you can fit two Slimline Glocks in a single bag more easily than two double-stack models.
What to Pack in Your Glock Range Bag
Having the right gear organized and ready makes your range time more productive. Here is what we recommend based on years of shooting Glocks and building bags for Glock owners. For a deeper breakdown, see our full range bag essentials guide.
Glock-Specific Items
- Extra magazines — At least 3-4 loaded mags. Glock factory magazines are reliable and affordable. If you run a G19, grab a couple of G17 mags too — they fit and give you 17 rounds.
- Glock armorer's tool or 3/16" punch — For disassembly and field-level maintenance.
- Magazine loader — Your thumbs will thank you after loading 200+ rounds of 9mm.
- Bore snake or cleaning rod — For clearing obstructions or quick cleanings between sessions. See our best gun cleaning kits guide for recommendations.
- Spare batteries — CR2032 for most red dots. If your optic dies mid-session, you want to keep shooting.
Universal Range Day Essentials
- Eye protection — ANSI Z87.1-rated shooting glasses, not sunglasses.
- Ear protection — Electronic muffs are worth the investment for situational awareness. See our ear protection guide for tested options.
- Ammunition — Budget 500-round boxes of FMJ for practice, a box of your carry ammo for function testing.
- Targets and stapler — Most indoor ranges provide targets but outdoor ranges often do not. A $10 staple gun saves the trip back to the car.
- First aid kit — A tourniquet, gauze, and chest seal at minimum. Range accidents are rare but response time matters.
- Pen and notebook — Track your groups, zero data, and drills. Deliberate practice beats mag dumps.

Range Bag vs. Pistol Case: Which Do You Need?
A range bag (like the Pistol Bag or Concord) carries your pistol, magazines, ammunition, eye and ear protection, cleaning supplies, and accessories all in one organized package. It is the right choice for regular range trips where you want everything in a single grab-and-go bag.
A pistol case (like the Prime or Pistol Portfolio) carries just the pistol and a few magazines in a compact, protective package. Cases work well for transport to and from the range when you keep your other gear stored separately, for carrying a concealed carry pistol to a class, or as a secondary organizer inside a larger bag.
If you live in a state with transport requirements like California, you may need a lockable range bag that meets legal definitions for secure handgun transport. Both the Pistol Bag and Concord accept padlocks on their main compartment zippers.
Why We Build Range Bags Specifically for Pistol Shooters
Most range bags on the market are generic — designed to hold "stuff" without any real thought about how pistol shooters actually use them. We started Lynx Defense because we were tired of bags that could not keep a Glock secure without it shifting, that had magazine pockets sized for AR mags instead of pistol mags, and that fell apart after a year of weekly range trips.
Every bag we make is cut, sewn, and assembled by hand in our Selma, North Carolina facility. We use 1000D Cordura because it outlasts everything else. We use IDEAL zippers because they handle the weight. And we test every Glock model in every bag configuration — stock, with optics, with lights, with extended magazines — so you know it fits before you order. That is backed by a lifetime warranty, not a 90-day one.
