The AR-15 Magazine Bag is a purpose-built carrier for transporting loaded AR-15 magazines to and from the range. No wasted space, no unnecessary pockets — just a clean, efficient bag designed to do one thing well: carry your mags.

Built from 1000D Cordura nylon and sewn in Selma, North Carolina, the Magazine Bag is constructed to handle the weight of fully loaded magazines without breaking down over time. Reinforced stitching at all stress points ensures this bag holds up season after season.

Two Ways to Carry

Load your magazines upright for quick access or lay them flat to maximize capacity. The upright position holds up to 7 magazines, keeping them organized and easy to grab — ideal for competition shooters or structured range sessions. The flat position fits 8-9 magazines into the same footprint — perfect for stocking up for a long day at the range or transporting bulk mags to and from storage.

Built for Range Day

This isn't a tactical pouch meant for a plate carrier, and it's not a general-purpose range bag with a magazine pocket bolted on as an afterthought. The AR-15 Magazine Bag is a dedicated carrier designed to get your loaded magazines from point A to point B. Grab it, load it, go.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many AR-15 magazines does the bag hold?
Capacity depends on orientation. Loading magazines flat maximizes capacity, while the upright position holds fewer magazines but keeps them organized and easy to grab. Exact counts depend on the magazine type (PMAG, USGI, Lancer) since dimensions vary slightly between manufacturers.
What magazines are compatible with the AR-15 Magazine Bag?
The bag fits all standard AR-15/M4 pattern magazines in 5.56/.223, including Magpul PMAG Gen M2 and Gen M3, USGI aluminum magazines, Lancer L5AWM, and Hexmag Series 2. Both 20-round and 30-round magazines fit.
Can I carry the magazines upright or flat?
Yes — the AR-15 Magazine Bag supports both orientations. Stand magazines upright for organized, quick-access carry, or lay them flat to fit more magazines in the same space. Choose the orientation that works best for your range session.
What is 1000D Cordura nylon?
1000D Cordura is a heavy-duty, abrasion-resistant nylon fabric widely used in military and tactical gear. The "1000D" refers to the denier count — a measure of fiber thickness. Higher denier means greater tear and abrasion resistance. It is the industry standard for gear that needs to handle heavy, repeated use.
Where is the AR-15 Magazine Bag made?
The AR-15 Magazine Bag is designed and hand-sewn in Selma, North Carolina. All Lynx Defense products are made in the USA.
Is this bag MOLLE compatible?
The AR-15 Magazine Bag is a standalone carrier designed for transporting magazines, not a tactical pouch for plate carriers or chest rigs. It is built for range day convenience — grab it and go.
Will 40-round AR-15 magazines fit?
The bag is optimized for standard 20-round and 30-round AR-15 magazines. Extended 40-round magazines may fit depending on orientation but capacity will be reduced. We recommend this bag for standard-length magazines.
What is the difference between this and a magazine pouch?
Magazine pouches are typically small, individual holders designed to mount on plate carriers, belts, or chest rigs via MOLLE. The AR-15 Magazine Bag is a standalone transport bag built to carry multiple magazines at once — purpose-built for getting your mags to and from the range.

Must-have for the Pelican

This was exactly what I needed to really rein in the organization of my Pelican. Had my mags loosely in a large Savior equipment bag and it was a mess. You can hear them flying around whenever I moved the case. Lynx's mag bag is padded, awesome color (ranger green), and solid construction. This is my second purchase from them. I will be a repeat customer. Such a simple thing but it's funny to me how nobody is really coming up with simple solutions like this. There are versions but most are overcomplicated or way too big like the Midway offering.

I have been looking for something like this for years...

I bought these to try out. I have been purchasing stuff like this for years now, and none of it really worked out due to the fact I put ranger plates on my mags. I like to keep mags loaded despite what YouTube boomers say about springs. These things work out extremely well for my Magpul mags with ranger plates as well as my Magpul AK47 mags with ranger plates. I will be ordering more of these, especially if they offer them in multicam variants. I was going to say they would be cool with Velcro to mark them with morale patches or something, but for now I will just use hockey tape and sharpie.

Response from Lynx Defense

Thanks for trying them out! We do plan to expand the color options, even if they are made to order! We have also discussed adding Velcro for patches.
