As a big fan of the 22LR caliber and the Ruger 10/22 platform, I was excited to learn at the beginning of 2024 that Angstadt was working on a suppressed 22LR barrel for the Ruger 10/22 called the Vanquish 22.
Now that I have had mine for a few months and have had time to shoot and test it thoroughly, I can provide a detailed review of this Ruger barrel upgrade.
The Vanquish 22 is an integrally suppressed barrel for the Ruger 10/22.
The barrel features no baffles, which means it’s impossible to have a baffle strike and damage it.
Integrally suppressed guns were all the rage in the early 2000’s and they may very well be making a comeback.
The Vanquish is a complete barrel replacement that makes shooting your Ruger 10/22 extremely quiet and more pleasurable than it already is.
You are probably asking yourself why the Vanquish? What makes it different or better than just adding a suppressor or using the Ruger barrel.
First, the Vanqush barrel fills a gap in the market. Ruger makes a factory-suppressed barrel, but it’s for their takedown models.
The Vanquish is a barrel replacement for standard model Ruger 10/22s.
If you have never taken down a 10/22 it’s crazy easy. It’s literally one bolt to remove the barrel and action from the stock assembly.
Once you have that done, getting the barrel off takes a matter of seconds.
Once that’s separated, you can slide in your new Vanquish barrel, and you are up and running in no time.
There are plenty of YouTube install videos for 10/22 barrels so I won’t reinvent the wheel.
Second, the Vanquish is great for anyone with a 10/22 that doesn’t have a threaded barrel. It’s an all-in-one solution that you can easily swap your barrel for and have a suppressed 10/22 barrel all the time.
You might be asking why you wouldn’t buy the Ruger Integrally Suppressed Barrel.
There are a few reasons the Vanquish barrel is better than the Ruger Barrel.
First, the Vanquish is baffleless and will making cleaning a breeze, whereas the Ruger barrel has baffles and a takedown and cleaning process.
This is required because 22LR runs extremely dirty.
Second, to my knowledge, the Ruger ISB is only made for the Ruger 10/22 Takedown model at the time of this writing.
The Takedown is a fantastic gun but there are far more Ruger 10/22 models floating around that aren’t takedown.
While this is a complete barrel swap, it doesn’t add a ton of weight to the gun.
Freehand shooting is just as easy with the Vanquish barrel as with a standard Ruger 10/22 setup.
The entire barrel only weighs 1.3 lbs, which isn’t bad for a complete barrel changeout and doesn’t add length in most cases.
Most Ruger 10/22 models have an 18.50″ barrel, but some of the carbine-length models have a 16.12 ” barrel.
The Vanquish is 18.5″, the same length as most of the current production Ruger models.
The best part about the Vanquish 22 is how well it suppresses both super and subsonic ammo.
Considering that the Vanquish 22 is a barrel whose sole purpose is to be accurate and suppress, it handles both of these very well.
But I’ll leave you to determine how it suppressed with our video.
Is the Vanquish barrel for you?
That’s up to you to determine.
But if you are looking to suppress your Ruger 10/22 I think you need to look at using this fantastic barrel as your barrel and suppressor.
