The Angstadt Arms Vanquish 22 is an integrally suppressed barrel replacement for the Ruger 10/22. No baffles, no threads, no separate can to mount. You pull your factory barrel, drop this one in, and your 10/22 is suppressed.

As someone who shoots 22LR regularly and owns multiple 10/22s, I was excited when Angstadt announced this in early 2024. I've had mine for several months now and have put enough rounds through it to give a thorough review.

What Is the Vanquish 22?

The Vanquish 22 is a complete barrel replacement that turns your Ruger 10/22 into an integrally suppressed rifle. The suppression is built into the barrel itself using a precision-ported design rather than traditional baffles. Gas bleeds off through the ports as the bullet travels down the barrel, reducing velocity and sound signature without a separate silencer attached to the end.

This is an NFA item. You'll need to file a Form 4 and pay the $200 tax stamp, just like any other suppressor. Plan for the wait. But once it clears, installation takes minutes.

Angstadt makes two versions:

  1. Vanquish 22 Rifle — 18.5" barrel for standard Ruger 10/22 models. This is the one I tested.
  2. Vanquish 22 Charger — 12" barrel for the Ruger 10/22 Charger pistol platform.

Both use the same baffleless design and share the same core specs. The Charger version just gives you a shorter package for the pistol-format 10/22.

Specifications

The Bentz chamber is worth noting. It's a match-grade chamber that's tighter than a standard Ruger factory chamber, which generally improves accuracy but can be more particular about ammo. In my testing, I didn't have any feeding or extraction issues with the rounds I ran.

Installation

If you've ever disassembled a Ruger 10/22, you already know how to install the Vanquish. Remove the single takedown bolt, separate the action from the stock, slide the factory barrel out, slide the Vanquish in. The whole process takes a few minutes with no special tools.

The .920" bull barrel contour means you'll need a stock that accepts a bull barrel. If your current stock only fits the standard taper barrel, you'll need to swap stocks or have the channel opened up. Most aftermarket 10/22 stocks already accommodate .920" barrels.

Ammo Testing

I ran three types of ammunition through the Vanquish during testing:

  1. CCI Subsonic (40gr, 1050 fps) — The best performer for suppression. Quiet enough that the action cycling is the loudest sound. This is the ammo the Vanquish was made for.
  2. CCI Mini-Mag (40gr, 1235 fps) — Supersonic, so you get the crack, but the Vanquish still does a remarkable job taming the report. Noticeably quieter than an unsuppressed 10/22. Ran reliably.
  3. Aguila 22LR (40gr, 1130 fps) — Standard velocity. Fed and fired without issue. Suppression was solid.

All three ran reliably with no feeding or extraction issues. The CCI subs sounded the best by a wide margin, but even the supersonic Mini-Mags were impressively quiet for a 22 that still cracks the sound barrier.

One thing to note: Angstadt specifies that the Vanquish is not compatible with CCI Stinger ammunition due to the longer case length. Stick with standard and subsonic loads and you'll be fine.

22LR runs dirty in general, and suppressed 22LR runs even dirtier. Expect more carbon and lead fouling than you'd see with an unsuppressed barrel. This is true of any suppressed 22 — it's not a Vanquish-specific issue. The baffleless design makes cleanup easier than traditional baffled suppressors (more on that below).

Sound Suppression

The whole point of this barrel is making your 10/22 quiet, and it delivers.

With CCI Subsonic rounds, the Vanquish is hearing-safe quiet. The loudest sound is the bolt cycling. You can comfortably shoot without ear protection, though we always recommend wearing it regardless.

The precision-ported design works differently than traditional baffles. Instead of trapping gas in chambers, the ports bleed gas off progressively as the bullet travels down the barrel. This is what drops supersonic ammo to subsonic velocities and reduces sound signature.

Cleaning

This is where the baffleless design really shines. Traditional baffled 22 suppressors are notorious for lead buildup in the baffle stack, requiring regular takedowns and soaking. The Vanquish has no baffles to trap lead, so maintenance is closer to cleaning a standard barrel.

Run a bore snake or cleaning rod through it like any other barrel. The ports will accumulate some carbon over time, but without baffles to disassemble and scrub individually, the whole process is much simpler.

Given how dirty suppressed 22LR runs, this is a meaningful advantage. If you've ever spent an evening scraping lead out of baffle stacks, you'll appreciate the simplicity.

Vanquish 22 vs. Ruger Integrally Suppressed Barrel

Ruger makes their own integrally suppressed barrel, so why go with Angstadt?

The biggest differentiator is compatibility. The Ruger ISB only fits the 10/22 Takedown model. If you own any other 10/22 variant — and there are far more standard 10/22s out there than Takedowns — the Vanquish is your option. The baffleless design and easier cleaning are bonuses on top of that.

Who Is This For?

The Vanquish 22 is a fun gun upgrade. It's for the 10/22 owner who wants to make an already enjoyable rifle even more enjoyable to shoot. Backyard plinking, pest control, introducing new shooters to firearms without the noise intimidation — that's the sweet spot.

It's also a solid choice for anyone who wants a suppressed 22 without dealing with a separate can. No alignment concerns, no thread protectors to lose, no worrying about a baffle strike. Drop it in and shoot.

If you're looking for a case to transport your suppressed 10/22, our Bureau rifle case at 32 inches fits a full-length 10/22 with the Vanquish barrel comfortably, with room for your ammo and accessories.

About Angstadt Arms

Angstadt Arms is a manufacturer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. They're best known for their AR-9 pistol caliber platforms but have been expanding into the rimfire suppressor space with the Vanquish line. Their products are well-made and the Vanquish reflects that level of quality — the fit and finish on the barrel and Cerakoted shroud are excellent.

The Vanquish 22 does exactly what it promises. It makes your 10/22 quiet, it's easy to install, and the baffleless design means you're not dreading cleanup after a day of shooting. Angstadt built a quality product here, and for 10/22 owners who've been wanting to suppress their rifle without the hassle of a separate can, this is the barrel to get.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vanquish 22 is an integrally suppressed barrel replacement for the Ruger 10/22. It uses a baffleless precision-ported design to reduce sound signature without a separate suppressor. It is an NFA item requiring a Form 4 and $200 tax stamp. Angstadt makes two versions: a rifle barrel (18.5") for standard 10/22s and a shorter barrel (12") for the 10/22 Charger.
The Vanquish 22 Rifle fits standard Ruger 10/22 models with stocks that accept a .920" bull barrel contour. The Vanquish 22 Charger fits the Ruger 10/22 Charger pistol. It does not fit 10/22 Takedown models. Your stock must accommodate a bull barrel — if it only fits the standard taper barrel, you will need a different stock.
CCI Subsonic rounds provide the quietest shooting experience. CCI Mini-Mags and Aguila 22LR also run reliably. Angstadt specifies that CCI Stinger hyper-velocity ammunition is not compatible due to longer case length. Standard velocity and subsonic loads work best for maximum suppression.
The baffleless design makes cleaning much simpler than traditional baffled suppressors. Run a bore snake or cleaning rod through the barrel like any standard rifle barrel. There are no baffles to disassemble, soak, or scrape lead from. Suppressed 22LR runs dirty, so clean regularly.
The Vanquish uses a baffleless precision-ported design while the Ruger ISB uses traditional baffles. The Vanquish fits standard 10/22 models and the Charger, while the Ruger ISB only fits the 10/22 Takedown. The Vanquish has a Bentz match chamber and zero risk of baffle strikes.
