Using the Defender

The Defender is a small package and as I mentioned before it can be easily concealed and carried on a keychain or in your pocket.

But what makes the Defender better is how it’s used. The simple design and activation of the spray make it top-tier.

The design is better than even the upright pepper spray I carried in law enforcement.

The Defender is a bottom-deploy spray which means it comes out of a small hole in the bottom of device.

Because of this design feature, you are likely to avoid spraying yourself like you would with a horizontal spray.

I can’t tell you how many times I unknowingly touched the pepper spray on my belt and then rubbed my eye, only to find out I had accidentally touched the spray nozzle and got trace amounts of OC on my finger.

Now, I had effectively OC’d myself.

Aiming the Defender is extremely intuitive and requires no skill or practice, but I do recommend trying it with inert practice cartridges as I have to get a better understanding of its real-world use.

The great thing about the Defender is the interchangeable inserts so you don’t have to throw away an entire device when your OC expires.

Wait… OC expires? Kind of.

The OC doesn’t go bad, but aerosol cans lose pressure over time. Think of this as the equivalent of shooting and changing your carry ammo yearly.
